Snow!!!

Today was a good day. It snowed! We needed the moisture, as this has been a very dry and mild winter.

Plus, we got the rolling cabinet, and all three wardrobes over to the house with a little help from our friend Doug and his dad. The wardrobe in the basement just made it! The little wardrobe is safe in our bedroom, and the wardrobe with the mirror doors is in the studio! It looks good. I plan to store fabric, supplies and project boxes in it. I decided to put the ‘bakers rack’ in the studio as well. It will give me bookshelf space and drawer space. This was something I was going to be short on as Dan has my big black book case.

Tomorrow after the Democratic county assembly, I will be moving more of the sewing stuff over. My mom will have 45% of her living room back for the first time in a year.

We organized the tool room today as well. That was a 3 hour undertaking. We’ve had all these boxes with bits and pieces in them because when we packed, anything went in a box. Now we get to sort it all out. I think I have enough little boxes to sort things into. While Dan took the last of the tools downstairs, I put the chairs in the breakfast nook. Then he helped me move the table in. It is a little bit tight, but it will do for now. Eventually, we may put a bench and tables in instead of the little round table.

The picture below is of the same room and table, but different chairs. Plus, my sons and nephew. Starting at the bottom right, Erin, Bryan, Stefan, Dayne and Daniel.

INside sports for Snowy Days

Not what you think! Geeze some people have dirty minds!

It finally snowed. So, none of us have felt like going outside. Not even Brandy.

So, today was rearrange the furniture day. We did this 6-8 months ago, and I had one plan and Dan had another. Guys won that time. This time, we did what I suggested a while back. I think it looks good. Dan is happy. The house looks much more open.

Summertime, and the Weather’s been Freezing!!!

30 degrees lower than normal. Brrrrrrr!!! Another day of cold rainy weather in Southern Colorado. So cold that there was snow on the Spanish Peaks. All above the 10,000ft mark. It was cold and damp all day.

I woke up to Daniel bringing in Fatty the puppy. He wanted me to snuggle him because the dog was cold. Oh, and he wants me to knit the dog a sweater. Then Erin woke me up because he needed to get into the house at 520 and Dan had locked the door and wasn’t answering the phone.

No sooner got to 520 when my mom called. Could I take her to the store? At 10am? Of course. So, I shuffled laundry, took my mom to the store, shuffled more laundry and then headed back to 520. Morgan and Matt are here today too. Since then we have worked on the house, played silly spray the stuff in the cans game, had an asthma attack, cooked dinner and now I’m headed to bed. Wheee…. Oh, and Matt and Morgan went to the movies.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Mom & Dad’s furniture arrives. Wheee…. we get a dresser, a tv and a washer out of the deal. Wow…

Mondays, elk legs and organization

Here it is Monday afternoon and while in one way I don’t think I’ve gotten much done, when I look at my list of things to do, I’ve managed plenty.

Saturday, after sleeping in late, I got to work on stuff over at the office. In the end, Dan and I realized that we needed to head to Pueblo. So, off we went. Six hours later, we had a desk for Karen, three new chairs, two book cases, and some other bits and bobs.

Sunday morning, I was up and moving by 8:30am… yawn! We had furniture to build for the office. My cabinet for my office was first. Not to difficult, but we think that directions were getting scrambled in translation. Engrish! sigh….. Then the desk. Not too difficult, but still time consuming. After that we stopped for a bit of food and then tackled the bookshelves. First one was slow. Second one was fast, but Dan put two shelves in backwards. So, I colored the raw edges with sharpie. :> We also moved furniture around and put an old bookcase in his room when we moved one of the new ones into his office area. We got the big metal shelf into the back porch and now have the beginnings of organized tools, components, etc. Huzzah!!! We also got the glass into the window frames. It isn’t caulked yet, but there is quarter round in place to hold the glass. We will do the pretty bits later when it is just a tad warmer!

This  morning, I started the school run again. We have a month left before the holidays. I drove out to Badito with a glorious sunrise in the rear view mirror. Drove home and then picked up Daniel to take him to school. On the way there, there was something in the road. I wasn’t sure what it was. It looked like a very weird piece of wood. Drove by it slowly on the way home and realized it was the lower leg of an elk! Complete with hoof! Found out later that one of the high school guys went hunting and  as a joke stuck bits of the rotting left overs all over the high school campus. sigh!

Today of course since we built all of those lovely bits of furniture, I have to organize things. My desk looks like a tornado hit it. However, I have more shelf and cupboard space than I did last week! Now to get some stuff done before it is time to pick up the wee trolls.
